Re: “Family shows need for vehicular crimes unit,” by Sharon Grigsby, Wednesday Metro & Business column.
Police staffing is less than half the national average density, and police citations are running below half of the level of 10 years ago, despite a large growth in population. Our Republican leaders in Austin have touted their support of personal freedom, opposing lifesaving masks during a pandemic and loosening gun laws at a time when gun crimes are rising. But they seem happy to impose their religious values on Texans when the majority favor something they consider immoral.
As long as the Republican leaders kowtow to him, they will have no credibility. The other elephant is their continued effort to gaslight the American people about the 2020 election. Over 60% of Republicans and more than half of their candidates in the midterms believe that the election was stolen.
