The re-election of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is under indictment, has a reader concerned for the state’s future.Re: “Texas ranks at the bottom,” Your Turn, Saturday:
We had a good chance to change Texas for the better by electing a state government that would make improvements for all Texans. Our governor continues to waste our money in many ways. He uses millions of dollars to protect schools from gun violence, and he allows 18-year-olds to purchase assault weapons legally with no permit or training.
Texas ranks 42nd in health care and 45th in child well-being. Texas has an F rating in gun control, and we rank last for mental health care access. And most Texas voters are OK with that.
