Foxes pay the price for sticking with Brendan Rodgers for too long 🚨 Here's danielstorey85's Leicester season review - what went well, what went badly, player of the season and managers LCFC

The decline in Jamie Vardy clearly had a huge impact given Kelechi Iheanacho and Patson’s Daka inability to step up to replace him but, again, this was a shock to nobody. When a striker turning 36 and suddenly losing a little pace and sharpness is a surprise, you aren’t planning ahead properly. Further back but on a similar note, relying upon post-injury Wilfred Ndidi was foolish too.

There was definitely something about the King Power that failed to engineer a response from the players. I don’t know if it’s just the stadium design or the connection between the supporters and the club, but at home games you felt negative energy surge far quicker than anything positive. In their defence, Leicester conceded 13 times in the first 15 minutes of matches this season, so they often didn’t have much reason to be upbeat for long.

And yet the overwhelming sense watching Leicester was that nobody seemed to realise just how bad the league table looked. I don’t know if that came from complacency or a lethargy caused by the final months of Rodgers’ tenure, but Leicester simply carried on what they had been doing over and over again:I suppose it’s Maddison, simply for the numbers. He’ll get a club in European football, probably Newcastle and Leicester will get some money for him.

So scratch that, I’m giving it to Nampalys Mendy, for always looking like he really cared and forcing his way into the team.Under Rodgers it went stale, and Leicester probably paid the price for sticking with him for too long given that he lost 7 of his last 28 league games in charge. It’s easy to see what happened with Steve Cooper at Nottingham Forest and commend them for sticking with a manager,.

There’s something else that really frustrates me with Leicester. If we can all agree that Rodgers’ tenure was coming to an end with a fairly long run-up, why on earth were Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell in charge for two games on a temporary basis, home fixtures that Leicester lost to Aston Villa and Bournemouth?
