Iconic Irish singer Sinead O'Connor has passed away at the age of 56.
Legendary Irish singer Sinead O'Connor has died. The singer, who passed away at the age of 56, is survived by three children. Her son Shane died last year at the age of 17.
In her final social media post, she tweeted a picture of her late son and wrote: "Been living as undead night creature since. He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul." O'Connor rocketed to fame in 1990 with her cover of the Prince song Nothing Compares 2 U. In Ireland, the song went on to become the eighth most successful single of the 90s, and was widely connected with its emotional music video.In 1991, she was nominated for several Grammys, winning the award for Best Alternative Music Performance, but boycotted the awards.
