A fan of the Roman giants has defended the club against their reputation for being fascist.
A Lazio fan has penned an open letter to Celtic fans defending the Roman club's supporters and insisting they are "not fascist."
But published on the Italian website Globalist and titled "Open Letter to Celtic supporters by a Lazio fan: We’re not fascist, let us talk about our true history," they wrote the following. So Lazio exists because it refused to be swallowed up in the regime’s plans that sought to retrace – in an improvised and caricatured manner – the glories of imperial Rome. We like to remember that it was a member of Polisportiva Lazio, Ivo Bitetti, a water-polo player, who on 27 April 1945 recognised and had Benito Mussolini arrested when he was disguised as a German trying to reach Switzerland by hiding in the middle of a column of Nazis.
