Law enforcement Monday was searching for a University of Houston student who went missing while camping with his friends near Canyon Lake during the weekend, officials said.
Crews as of 12:40 p.m. had been actively searching for Aamir Ali, according to Jennifer Smith, a spokeswoman for the Comal County Sheriff’s Office. According to published reports, the 22-year-old told the friends he'd gone on the trip with that he was going for a walk around 9 p.m. Friday, but he never returned.
The friends went looking for Ali and found his cellphone, clothes and headphones on the shore of a nearby lake. That's when they called police, who launched a widespread search Saturday. Smith referred specific questions about the investigation to the Texas Department of Parks & Wildlife, but representatives for that state agency did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
