The storm is expected to drop heavy rain and bring high winds to much of the area Sunday into Monday.
LAUSD officials said individual school administrators have been instructed to “review their comprehensive safety plans and emergency protocols.”
“Los Angeles Unified’s maintenance and operations teams have also been preparing our campuses with preventative work and supplies to minimize debris and the potential impact of flooding,” according to a statement from the district. “We are also collaborating with the city of Los Angeles and emergency personnel to ensure the safety of the entire Los Angeles Unified community.
“Our schools continue to be one of the safest places for students in the event of inclement weather.” District families will receive updates directly from the district, but updates will also be provided at LAUSD.org, on social media @LASchools and on KLCS-TV.
