Laura Prepon says she hasn't practiced Scientology for years: 'It’s no longer part of my life.”
The interview was Scientology-heavy, as one may expect for a feature in the Scientology magazine, and so it’s hard to follow if you don’t know the religion’s jargon. She mentions how auditing, a practice in the church that was criticized in the 2015 documentary, “stripped away all of this charge, false ideas, decisions and mis-emotions that were affecting me.”
She also said, “It’s my job and it’s very important to me, but, when I have huge wins in session, and when you really cognate that you are a thetan and you have a mind and body, and that the MEST universe does not control you—it puts things into perspective.” Six years later, Prepon still stops short of totally repudiating the church, unlike others who’ve left. She takes a softer approach in this interview, placing her participation in the famously litigious church as one among other organized religions she’s been interested in. “I’ve always been very open-minded, even since I was a child. I was raised Catholic and Jewish. I’ve prayed in churches, meditated in temples. I’ve studied Chinese meridian theory,” she said.
Now she meditates daily with Foster, saying, “It’s something that helps me to hear my own voice and it's something we can do together.”
