The Highland Park estate of a former Exxon Mobil executive and board member and his wife hit the market for $9.5 million.

Sisters Carissa Buchanan and Kim Mullins of the Mullins Buchanan Group of Keller Williams North Country in Celina are listing the property. They were previously teachers at a private school in Frisco and had taught some of the family members’ children.“We’ve just known the family for a really long time,” Mullins said. “Obviously, when this happened, they were looking for somebody that they knew and trusted to take on this responsibility.

Susan Simon was active in the community, hosting events at the home and working with local organizations such as Vickery Meadow Learning Center, the Stewpot Alliance and the Nexus Recovery Center, according toThe three-story home is on a .42-acre lot in walking distance to Highland Park’s town offices and several parks as well as shopping and restaurants along Knox Street.Advertisement

It has six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and two half baths. The home has a private guest suite above a detached garage. Aside from a study and office, the first level is completely dedicated to entertainment spaces, having no bedrooms. The home has a four-car garage and a two-car garage, both detached from the main house. The two-car garage has high ceilings that could fit a car lift.

The family purchased the home in the early 2000s when they relocated from Virginia for Simon to finish his career at Exxon Mobil, according to Mullins. After his death in 2009, his wife continued to live in the house until she died in November, Mullins said.Simon steadily moved up the ranks at the largest U.S. oil company. After a two-year assignment in the U.S. Army, he returned to Exxon Mobil in July 1969 as a business analyst at a refinery in Baton Rouge.where he defended the oil industry.

His work with Exxon Mobil moved the family around the U.S. and overseas to London, Rome and Central America. He was chief executive and general manager of Esso Caribbean and Central America and president of Exxon Mobil Refining & Supply Co.
