Lancashire referee's confidence 'smashed to bits' after being attacked on pitch and left in 'agonising pain'
A Lancashire referee has been left in 'agonising pain' following an on-pitch assault at a South Lancashire Counties Football League fixture.
The player then launched a horrific attack on Bradshaw. It is understood he suffered broken ribs, a concussion, and a broken nose. The referee, who lives in Wigan and is from Manchester, took to social media to thank all those who have offered words of support and to remind people that 'the actions of one individual shouldn't tarnish the club's reputation'.
"We have been very clear that all forms of anti-social behaviour, abuse and assaults on match officials and participants are completely unacceptable and we will not tolerate this in the game. We are investigating the incidents as a matter of urgency, working with Lancashire FA who are liaising with the police and supporting the match official and player affected."
