The decision means vacant properties across all the phase two blocks will no longer be let out and non-essential internal works will no longer be carried out, although council officials have assured residents that they will “continue to maintain all homes and communal facilities to existing high standards”.
Residents were consulted through surveys, open days, newsletters and site visits, with 68 per cent of those returning responses expressing support for the demolition and reprovisioning plans.
