Labour’s lead over the Conservatives has dropped New polling by BMG shows Labour’s lead stands at 14 percentage points, down three points from last month 🔎 It will prompt further questions over Starmer’s cautious approach, writes RichardVaughan1

cautious approach amid growing pressure from his own side to be bolder and set out a clear vision for the country.

The party has been forced to row back from a series of ambitious policies in a bid to present themselves as being fiscally responsible.and reports have emerged of the party U-turning on a £3bn tech tax after intensive lobbying by Silicon Valley firms. But while Labour’s lead has fallen back, the survey makes for grim reading for Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives, who are lagging behind on nearly every policy platform.

According to the poll, Labour is seven points ahead of the Tories when it comes to the economy and nine points ahead on immigration, and it enjoys an eight-point lead on the issue of crime – policy areas that were traditionally the Conservative Party’s strengths. Mr Sunak’s personal ratings are also a concern for his party, with his net personal polling down from -21 per cent in May to -25 per cent in June. It marks a precipitous drop from April, when his net ratings were -14 per cent.

Sir Keir’s own ratings in contrast remain fairly neutral, with a slight drop from minus one per cent in May to minus two per cent in June.
