After a meeting with Muslim MPs the Labour leader put out a new statement condemning the “completely insufficient” level of aid getting into Gaza

After todays’ meeting Sir Keir put out a new statement condemning the “completely insufficient” level of aid entering Gaza. The leader’s office described the meeting as “constructive” but attendees were seen leaving looking stony-faced. Shadow Cabinet sources also denied suggestions that some senior figures could be poised to resign from the frontbench over the issue but acknowledged widespread frustration that the leadership was not getting on top of the concerns.
The meeting came amid growing anger among the grassroots and some in the parliamentary party over comments made by Sir Keir on the escalating conflict.In a statement issued after Wednesday’s meeting, Sir Keir said that Labour backed calls – including the US and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak – for humanitarian pauses.
