Labour accused of double-standards over Diane Abbott suspension White MP readmitted after apologising for racism is contrasted to Ms Abbott having the whip removed after she apologised
So far almost 1,500 people have signed the petition demanding that the party bring Ms Abbott back into the fold.The veteran MP, who was the first Black woman elected to parliament, had whip removed after over a month ago despite issuing an “unreserved apology” for a letter to the Observer which argued that anti-racism is not the same as “prejudice” experienced by white minorities.
A previous study found that Ms Abbott received more hate on social media than all the other MPs put together. And he demanded “urgent action” from leader Sir Keir Starmer to address the issue of anti-Black racism in the party.
