LA City Council approves two motions that aim to improve operations at Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.
The Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday, Nov. 30, approved a pair of motions intended to improve operations at the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.
LAHSA is a joint powers authority established in 1993 by the L.A. County Board of Supervisors, as well as the mayor of L.A. and L.A. City Council, to provide coordinated homeless services regionwide. Some critics have said the system’s massive size has made it difficult to navigate. “The motions voted on today will increase transparency between LAHSA and the City Council, and help implement more innovative outreach strategies,” he said. “With a budget of over $800 million a year, I think it’s only fair to ask LAHSA for consistent, transparent progress updates, and it’s imperative to always review how things are being done to ensure as much efficiency as possible.”
This week, her office said she wants to give the regional authority a chance and that the motion calling for liaisons between LAHSA and individual council districts, which Raman introduced, is not intended as a punitive measure but to improve LAHSA’s effectiveness.
