Disturbing testimony and charged cross-examinations have emotions running high at the Kristin Smart murder trial.

Kristin Smart disappeared during her freshman year at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo more than 25 years ago. She is presumed dead and her body remains missing but the man accused of killing her is going on trial Monday, July 18, 2022.
Rhonda Doe said she went to police when she saw Paul Flores in the media being arrested on suspicion of Smart's murder. Sarah Doe said she identified Flores as her rapist when detectives showed her a photo lineup. Multiple jurors were brought to tears by Sarah Doe’s testimony, and Judge Jennifer O’Keefe called a short break so jurors could step away.
