Knicks' star Julius Randle says any season that ends without an NBA championship is a failure.
New York Knicks forward Julius Randle is shown during the first half of Game 3 of an NBA basketball second-round playoff series against the Miami Heat, Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Miami. By that standard, every Knicks’ season since 1973 -- that’s 50 years -- has met that criteria.
“It is frustrating but if I’m out there I’m not having any type of excuses,” said Randle, who underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle in June. The Knicks ended the preseason at 1-3 after losing 131-106 to the Washington Wizards on Wednesday at the Garden. Jordan Poole poured in 41 points in 27 minutes for the Wizards.
“But we will. We’ve been in positions where we had to get it going before. We don’t want to rely on that but we understand that we have to have more of a sense of urgency so we’ll take those steps.”
