Kingwood scored its 11 runs on 10 hits. The Mustangs scored five runs in the second and third inning. “We have power, we have speed, the intangibles to do something special this year,” said shortstop Braelon Richardson, who went 1-for-1 with two RBIs, a walk, and a stolen base. “We can make a deep run. It feels great to win district because that was our first goal when the season started. We’re playing good right now and we have confidence going into the playoffs.”John Hebert came off the bench to blast a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
