The charity cut ties with the embattled presenter after he admitted lying about the relationship
The charity said it was “no longer appropriate” to work with the presenter, who resigned from ITV after admitting he had lied about the relationship.
A Prince’s Trust spokesperson said: “In light of Phillip’s recent admissions, we have agreed with him that it is no longer appropriate to work together.” Schofield, 61, resigned from the broadcaster on Friday and was dropped by his talent agency YMU after admitting to an “unwise, but not illegal” affair with a young male colleague onIt came after weeks of speculation over a feud with former co-host Holly Willoughby.This Morninghit out at the show’s “toxic” culture, saying he raised concerns about “bullying and discrimination” two years ago when he worked there and afterwards felt like he was “managed out” for whistleblowing.
An ITV spokesperson hit back: “Following a complaint made by Dr Ranj, we appointed an external and independent advisor to carry out a review. This external review found no evidence of bullying or discrimination.”Dianne Nelmes, who was among the team that launched, said “it’s time” the ITV programme “in a very dignified way, just moved off and gave way to another new show”.
Ms Nelmes said that if she was in charge, she would keep it going until July then bring it back in September with a new presenting team as the current on-screen talent “attract the wrong kind of tabloid interest”.
