Reflecting on the apology of the Dutch King, Ms Stanford-Xosei said the apology is “still limited” and is talking about a slave trade and not the loss of humanity. “The voices of enslaved people and their descendants, the voices of enslaved Africans, African Caribbean people and however we self-define, need to be heard on this issue because this is an issue of global importance and ramification.Ms Stanford-Xosei added by not including the voices of the enslaved and their descendants “we are still continuing the harm of marginalising.”She said: “What is being missed out is, it was Africans that were taken from Africa, to the Caribbean and other colonies.
She also said she is concerned that reparations conversations and demands are not being led by the people or grass roots groups and organisations.
