King Charles emotionally greets cheering crowds with a handshake at Buckingham Palace
A plane carrying the King and Queen Camilla landed at RAF Northolt in west London around 13.34pm on Friday – Charles' first time on English soil since becoming monarch.
The new King stepped out of the car as he arrived at the gates of the Palace to greet and shake hands of mourners, thanking them for their good wishes.Charles was later joined by Camilla as they looked at the many flowers and tributes in front of Buckingham Palace in tribute to the Queen.King Charles III is expected to address the nation on television this evening, and hold his first audience with Prime Minister Liz Truss.
“Part II, is the holding by The King of His Majesty’s first Privy Council. The King will make his Declaration and read and sign an oath to uphold the security of the Church in Scotland and approve Orders in Council which facilitate continuity of government. “But to an extent he will be his own King, of course he will, but within the constitutional constraints of being the sovereign.”
