King Charles has arrived at Buckingham Palace for the first time as monarch this afternoon
The King's state Bentley arrived at the gates of Buckingham Palace and was met by cheers from members of the public gathered outside. He was pictured alongside Queen Camilla accepting flowers from well-wishers as he arrived flanked by a security detail ahead of his address to the nation this evening.
It is expected he will be proclaimed as the new King at the Accession Council at 10am tomorrow in the State Apartments of St James's Palace. However, it will be some months before the official coronation ceremony. This afternoon King Charles will meet with Prime Minister Liz Truss for the first time as king, before a televised address to the nation at 6pm.
