We chat with AboutMyFather stars KimCattrall and Leslie Bibb about their approach to comedy, and what is was like working with Sebastian Maniscalco and Robert De Niro:
About My Father follows Sebastian and his girlfriend Ellie, who bring his Italian immigrant father with them to her parents' home for a holiday weekend in the summer. Sebastian is embarrassed as Salvo is quick to judge the wealthy family, and hilarious misunderstandings over clashing cultures come to the forefront. However, over the course of their weekend together, the two families become unified.
Screen Rant spoke with stars Leslie Bibb and Kim Cattrall about their new movie, About My Father. Bibb explained how her character Ellie and Sebastian's balance each other and how her family influenced her comedy, while Cattrall discussed how she infused comedy into her role as Tigger. I think he did such a good job on the movie. Everybody's great, but that's a big deal to be every single shot. He'd done smaller parts, but to be the lead of a movie, he was a really good number one. I thought he did such a great job, and everyone's great and funny.
What was unexpected to me was the relationship with my husband and the relationship with my daughter. That only happened because of the people that Sebastian and Bob cast, because there was a feeling there of play. So I had a through line that I wanted to follow, but how to get there is very much dependent on who you're acting off. And improvisation was such a major part of doing this film.
