The new Martin Scorsese movie has an epic cast.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Martin Scorsese's next movie is a 3.5-hour epic, and the Killers of the Flower Moon cast is just as epic to fill its behemoth runtime. The new western is based on the true story of the Oklahoma murders, in which members of the Osage tribe were murdered in the 1920s due to an oil dispute. This led to an investigation operated by Tom White for the BOI .
After the one-two punch of Mean Streets and The Godfather Part II, De Niro quickly became a go-to Hollywood actor for mobsters and gangster movies. What followed were The Untouchables, Goodfellas, Heat, and several others. Scorsese has cast De Niro in 10 movies, and Scorsese always works with Dicaprio and De Niro, but Killers of the Flower Moon marks the first time the two actors are being directed by the filmmaker in the same movie.
Actor Tantoo Cardinal might not have been in many major movies, but she's a well-known and extremely respected name in Canada, typically acting in mostly Canadian productions. Just like fellow Flower Moon cast member Lily Gladstone, Cardinal's performances are often based on her heritage, as she's of Cree and Métis ancestry. However, whether she chooses to accept them or not, following Killers of the Flower Moon Cardinal will likely have more opportunities opening up.
Brendan Fraser's most famous role to date is as Rick O'Connell in the Mummy franchise, and he made a name for himself as the loveable fool in other movies such as George of the Jungle and Looney Tunes: Back in Action. However, Fraser is enjoying a major comeback and quickly regaining his 1990s popularity. Fraser won an Oscar for The Whale, and with the actor's Killers of the Flower Moon role, there's seemingly a new era of more serious and powerful Brendan Fraser movies.
JaNae Collins as Reta - Rita is Mollie's cousin. Collins also doesn't have many acting credits outside one episode of Reservation Dogs and Rutherford Falls. Louis Cancelmi as Kelsie Morrison - Cancelmi is something of a frequent collaborator of Scorsese's as the actor also featured in Boardwalk Empire and The Irishman. Cancelmi is also known for his major role in Blue Bloods.
Yancey Red Corn as Chief Bonnicastle - Red Corn isn't an actor either, and joining the Killers of the Flower Moon cast is the Osage tribe member's first-ever acting credit. Ty Mitchell as John Ramsey - Mitchell only has a couple of acting credits, but when he does appear in a movie, he plays a cowboy, which makes him great for a minor role in the Killers of the Flower Moon cast. The actor also played Ferryman in 2010's True Grit.
Steve Witting as Dr. James Shoun - Witting is best known for his minor no-name roles, which include other Scorsese movies such as Shutter Island and The Wolf of Wall Street. Pete Yorn as Acie Kirby - The Killers of the Flower Moon cast features a surprising number of musicians, as Yorn is another alternative rock musician, and he hasn't had any major acting roles.
