Sia Sankaran is collecting books and monetary donations to make “grief kits” for children in Uvalde.
is an emergency relief fund that will support the area’s nonprofits that provide humanitarian relief and long-term aid to Uvalde.
“I think the organization selected Anaik and Sia to support because it was kids helping kids, and I think that passion came across very clearly,” says Ameeth Sankaran, Sia’s father. “We are very excited about supporting it as well.”Ten-year-old Anaik Sachdev of Phoenix founded the Loving Library two years ago after realizing the need for people to have access to books.Anaik says one of the victims in the Uvalde shooting —“This should never have happened. They’re my age,” he says.

Anjleen Gumer, Sachdev’s mother and executive director and co-founder of Loving Library, says she is “proud” of the work Sia has done for the drive, which she says is a testament to Sia, her parents and their community.
“I think that’s very powerful to see these young kids have these emotions that are so big and then turning those emotions into action and something positive is incredible,” she says.
