Kevin McCarthy issued a warning to the January 6 committee, telling them to preserve their records and expect to be investigated once the GOP assumes power in the House of Representatives next month.

Kevin McCarthy , the next presumptive Speaker of the House, issued a warning to members of the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol,and expect to be investigated once the GOP assumes power in the House of Representatives next month.
McCarthy also said that once Republicans take control of the House — effective January 3, 2023 — the January 6 committee’s work will immediately “come to an end.”, McCarthy reminded the committee that it must “preserve all records collected and transcripts taken” during its work over the past year. The records “do not belong to you or any member, but to the American people, and they are owed all of the information you gathered — not merely the information that comports with your political agenda,” McCarthy wrote.
