Shane Walters has pleaded guilty to second degree manslaughter for the death of Megan McCray, reports say.
TAYLOR MILL, Kentucky — A prosecutor is recommending a Kentucky man spend five years in prison after he admitted drunkenly shooting and killing a woman while trying to show her how to use a firearm.. He is scheduled to be sentence on March 3 in Kenton County Circuit Court.. Police tell WXIX that an “extremely intoxicated” Walters was showing Megan McCray, 33, how to disassemble and reassemble a handgun when a single shot was fired, striking McCray in the chest.
According to the Enquirer, Walters said he didn’t know the gun was loaded. He pulled the trigger to release and remove the firearm’s slide when it fired, reports say.told police wasn’t drunk when the shooting occurred, but a test of his blood-alcohol level six hours later showed it was at .12. The legal intoxication level in Ohio is .08. Police believe Walters’ blood-alcohol level likely was much higher at the time of the shooting.
