Kelvin Chatham, formerly of Washington, was named the new head football coach and campus coordinator at Aldine Davis.A 25-minute bus ride took Chatham to Nimitz, where he attended high school because Aldine Davis wasn’t built yet. After graduating in 2009, Chatham went on to play college football before experiencing the sport at the professional level.
“I just feel honored to be able to come back to my neighborhood where it all started – it gives me chills,” Chatham said. “I understand where a lot of these kids come from, so I want to give them that same opportunity that was given to me.” Winning a district championship was great, but one of the best moments from his second season at Washington, Chatham said, was signing day. About a dozen seniors signed their national letters of intent.
Chatham said he saw the job opening as a great opportunity to come back to Aldine ISD, so he put his name in the hat.
