“We saw each other, actually, after I did that,” Clarkson said. “I wasn’t really trying to defend or offend anyone. It was more of, like, Reba told me she did that...like, that was it. She told me she did that, she wanted to own her masters, and I was like, ‘If it’s that important to you, find a way.’ And she re-cut all her music and did the same musicians, same everything. That’s where I got the idea, yeah.
“Taylor’s like the artist...she’s been writing since she was a little girl, right?” Clarkson said. “So it’s kind of her diary, so I get why she’d want to. I don’t really care about owning my masters or not. I’m just like, ‘Whatever, I’m gonna sing ‘em till I’m dead, it’s fine.’ It’ll be fine. And then somebody can make money off of it, I don’t care...like I wrote, like, half, a little more than half my stuff. And hers is a hundred percent of it, so it’s hers.
