Kelis just slammed Beyoncé for seemingly sampling one of her songs without permission. What she had to say about the Renaissance artist's choice to use the track:
on her belief that the “Formation” artist, 40, using her song is offensive. “It’s not about me being jealous. Jealous of someone using my song? That’s the dumbest, most ignorant thing I’ve ever heard,” Kelis said via Instagram.”It has to do with the fact that, from one artist to another, you should have the decency and common sense and the courtesy to call.”
The New York native went on to explain that “Energy” — the Beyoncé track on which “Get Along With You” appears to be sampled — isn’t a collaboration simply because “the definition of collaboration means that we are working together,” noting that “there’s no working together if you are not even checking to see if everything’s cool.”, which will be the first part of a three-part project that the “Halo” singer recorded during the coronavirus pandemic.
