One of Sir Keir Starmer's five missions is to 'build an NHS fit for the future'. He is set to lay out more details of his plans this week in an attempt to tackle the country's biggest killers - cancer, cardiovascular diseases and suicide.
A Conservative Party source said in response:"Cutting waiting lists is one of our top five priorities.and two year waits virtually eliminated.
"If Labour wanted to address NHS efficiency, they shouldn't be setting out a plan for thousands of more NHS managers. There are also obstacles on the horizon for Labour, with insiders admitting they will have a fight on their hands if they are going to impose the sweeping changes they see as necessary.
Neither will there be a grand plan for improving social care - something promised by successive Conservative leaders and seen by many as central to securing the NHS's future.Sir Keir announced five missions at the start of the year
