Prince William and Kate Middleton looked spectacular as they joined King Charles III for their first State Banquet in their new roles in honour of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa
Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Prince and Princess of Wales, joined King Charles III and his wife Camilla, the Queen Consort, to host President Cyril Ramaphosa, of the Republic of South Africa, for a State Banquet at Buckingham Palace this evening .
Charles was presiding over the banquet, which was held in one of the palace's state rooms in honour of Ramaphosa. Charles ensured that only sustainable flowers could be used to decorate Buckingham Palace for the evening, and in the ballroom, the horseshoe-shaped table was laid for 163 people with blooms from the gardens and Windsor Castle.
The table was also decorated with foliage, and displays of pineapples, grapes, pears and dates, which were carefully arranged next to silver gilt candelabras for the evening.“They are all seasonal and from the gardens of Windsor and Buckingham Palace. They have not been flown in from around the world.”
It also featured the Prince of Wales crest and was a special gift handed down from the Queen Mother, to Princess Diana, and finally Kate, after initially being gifted to Princess Alexandra ahead of her wedding to Edward VIII. In the afternoon, the King then accompanied the president for a special private viewing of South African artefacts from the Royal Collection in the Picture Gallery.
