Musgraves’ music has been rooted in personal experiences since her 2013 debut album, “Same Trailer Different Park.” But her “Star-Crossed: Unveiled” tour, which arrives at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Sunday, Jan. 23, takes things to the next level.
Country pop star Kacey Musgraves tried playing the role of the good wife, but it didn't go as planned. CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kacey Musgraves has been performing in front of live audiences since she was a preteen. But the now 33-year-old, Grammy-winning star isn’t immune to pre-tour jitters.
“I definitely had moments where I would wake up in the middle of the night and go, ‘S**t, these songs are really personal to me and I’m feeling sincere around that,’” Musgraves admits. “But I think a little bit of fear around a creative decision is a good thing. I think when people get afraid to take risks, it can water things down.”
“Star-Crossed” isn’t just Musgraves’ most personal album to date. It’s also her most creatively daring. The album pushed the star even further into pop territory , a bold move considering her more country-focused effort – 2018′s “Golden Hour” -- earned the highly coveted Grammy for Album of the Year.
Musgraves calls the project both “fun” and “so much work.” But its gorgeous aesthetic – the outfits and set pieces are stunning – has bled into the “Star-Crossed: Unveiled Tour,” which Musgraves promises is “so f***ing pretty.”
