The protest brought roads in the city to a standstill
A Just Stop Oil protest caused ‘carnage’ through Manchester City Centre as roads came to a standstill.
The protest started near to the AO Arena, before moving along Trinity Way and heading towards the Manchester Cathedral. The march then moved towards the Arndale before a brief walk inside the shopping centre.The march is similar to the marches which have disrupted central London in recent weeks. Just Stop Oil members have previously said that the marches are designed to draw attention to the ‘government’s genocidal licensing’ of new oil and gas projects in a climate emergency.
Commenting on the disruption in Manchester, one person wrote on Twitter: “Carnage in Manchester with the Just Stop Oil protestors”.
