The California Clipper, the historic Chicago bar that’s a surreal study in red, has reopened in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
“She’s this beautiful, red glorious space,” said Carly Brown, the bar’s general manager. The bar also offers live music, performances and DJs.“When you first walk in, you will not notice any changes,” Brown said. “And that was intentional.” “There’s a fresh coat of paint and new carpet on the stage,” Brown said. “It’s still red walls, red vinyl, red lighting, the beautiful old bar with the curved bar top and the two round booths flanking the space.”
“I think the Hugo might be my favorite,” Brown said. The classic cocktail mixes sparkling wine, elderflower syrup and soda water, garnished with mint. “It’s not a high ABV, but it’s still a cocktail.
