The jury is considering its verdict
The jury has retired to consider its verdict in the trial of four men accused of murdering Preston man Lee Dawson.
Mr Dawson was found fatally injured in East Street, Preston, in the early hours of June 17, 2022. Before he died he had been living in Sunderland but had returned to his home city to attend the funeral of his close friend Iain Cross. The court heard in the night before Mr Cross's funeral, Mr Dawson went to a flat in Driscoll Street, where a gathering was taking place. The host called police and asked for Mr Dawson to be removed as other guests were troubled by his behaviour.
Benjamin Bibby, 20 and Andrew Wilcock, 29, were at the party but left before Mr Dawson. The prosecution allege they returned with weapons and attacked Mr Dawson in an act of revenge. Stuart Brown, 36, Robert Cross, 34, and Kerry Ann Metcalf, 39, came upon the altercation while they were out looking to buy crack.
