BREAKING UPDATE: Former Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes has been found guilty on four counts of fraud and conspiracy:
The jury weighing 11 counts of fraud and conspiracy against former Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes reported Monday that it remains hopelessly deadlocked on three of those charges.
Judge Davila then sent jurors back to the jury room to fill out a verdict form. It’s not yet clear whether the jury will render its remaining verdicts on Monday. Holmes, 37 and the founder of blood-testing startup Theranos, is facing up to 20 years in prison if convicted. That gave Holmes the final say among the more than 30 witnesses who testified in a high-profile trial in the heart of Silicon Valley. It’s the same locale where Holmes became a media sensation before Theranos collapsed in ruins amid evidence that its ballyhooed blood-testing technology was dangerously flawed.
