Robert Crimo III, 21, allegedly fled to Madison, Wisconsin, following the rooftop murder spree in Highland Park. Officers said he came across another Independence Day celebration and ‘seriously contemplated’ opening fire before returning to Illinois, where he was arrested. Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sgt Christopher Covelli told a press conference: ‘Investigators did develop some information that it appears when he drove to Madison, he was driving around, however, he did see a celebration that was occurring in Madison.
‘He seriously contemplated using the firearm he had in his vehicle to commit another shooting in Madison.Crimo was arrested on Monday, on a highway just five miles from where the July 4 parade in Highland Park was staged.Police say the gunman who attacked the parade fired more than 70 rounds Seven people died and 46 others were injured when shots rained over the July 4 parade, with attendees forced to duck for cover.
