A hazardous device was found and gunshots were fired–all at one home on Jacksonville’s Northside in the Panama Park neighborhood.
“I thought I heard a gunshot,” said a neighbor who didn’t want to have her face on camera and wanted to go by the nickname Lori.
She lives near the home where JSO says a hazardous device was found, and where bullets were sprayed this morning at 6:55 a.m. on the 200 block of Mulberry Street of Tallulah Avenue.The homeowner tells Action News Jax he was sleeping inside and was uninjured.“It doesn’t phase me,” Lori said. “It’s housing, it’s cars,” she explained, before saying, “it’s probably targeted.”Off-camera, the homeowner explained how this all began on Sunday.
He tells Action News Jax he found a PVC pipe with caps on both ends that had been burned out in the middle. He didn’t think it was targeted then, but this morning, he woke up to the sound of gunshots and found bullet holes in front of his home, including his front door. There were more bullets that struck his van parked out front. So far, police have not confirmed whether that device they found was an actual explosive until its Hazardous Devices Unit can look into it.
Even though JSO has not offered a suspect description yet, Lori still feels safe here. “It’s people trying to scare people more than people being violent,” she remarked. Although, she has a strong opinion on these incidents. “I feel like people would find a better way to solve their problems,” she added.
