TV presenter Jonnie Irwin criticises show bosses for how they treated him after his diagnosis.
By Helen BushbyTV presenter Jonnie Irwin has accused the bosses of Channel 4 property show A Place in the Sun of dropping him after he told them he had terminal cancer.that Freeform Productions "paid me off for the rest of the season and didn't renew my contract", which left him "really low".Freeform and C4 said "no stone was left unturned" to find a way for him to stay, but they could not get insurance.
The presenter said when he told A Place in the Sun's bosses "the full story" about his diagnosis, they made "the wrong conclusion, because I said, 'Look, it is stage four, which means it's terminal, but not yet. So let me live my life whilst I can.'"No longer presenting the show "broke my heart... [and] affected my mental health", he told the newspaper.
He explained about the insurance issues, but said: "It just broke my heart and I just didn't think they even fought for me.
