In September 2018, Platt became music publishing’s most powerful executive when sources confirmed he would leave his post at the helm of Warner/Chappell in March 2019 to succeed Martin Bandier — his former boss — as chief of Sony/ATV, the world’s biggest music publisher.
It’s a bit of a homecoming, as Sony/ATV is in the process of completing its multibillion-dollar acquisition of EMI Music Publishing, where Platt worked for 17 years and signed Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Diddy and Drake.
