The industry veteran has led Lionsgate for 18 years, diversifying the youngest of Hollywood's major studios through acquisitions. Jon Feltheimer was recognized as part of 2018's Variety500 presented by VZMediaPlatform
Feltheimer has greatly broadened Lionsgate’s reach during his nearly 20-year tenure as CEO of the first independent studio in decades to achieve Hollywood major status. He arrived at the company in 2000 after a nine-year run heading television for Sony Pictures Entertainment.
He brought the company with Canadian roots into the TV business in time to have a sizable operation well positioned to capitalize on the booming global demand for high-end TV content, with such hits as “Mad Men,” “Orange Is the New Black,” “Dear White People” and “Nashville.” In 2016, Lionsgate completed its largest acquisition to date — with the pay-TV group Starz — at $4.4 billion.
