DC fans have taken to social media to express their differing opinions about the new Joker and Harley Quinn designs for an upcoming TV series.
Fans are completely torn over Joker and Harley Quinn's new designs for the recently announced Suicide Squad Isekai. Jared Leto and Margot Robbie gave life to the Joker and Harley Quinn in the DCEU, with the first's design being among the most criticized aspects of the DCEU as a whole, while Robbie's look as Harley Quinn has bled into other versions of the character, be it the animated Harley Quinn series on Max or the comics. Now, talk has shifted to new designs for the characters.
Joker and Harley Quinn have a tumultuous relationship throughout all the projects they appear in, and that will likely play a role in the duo's next adventure, DC's upcoming Suicide Squad Isekai anime series. The TV show promises to bring a fresh take on the Suicide Squad characters, with Joker and Harley Quinn front and center on the anime series' first look.

Suicide Squad Isekai is an anime series that focuses on characters from the Suicide Squad in a very different world from the one DC fans are used to seeing them in. The Isekai genre is very popular among modern anime. Isekai series normally follow a character — usually a regular person — being transported into a fantasy world with dragons and such elements.
While the trailer only showed the Joker, Harley Quinn, and Amanda Waller, the show's name hints that more Suicide Squad characters may be making an appearance in the anime series. Suicide Squad Isekai hails from director Eri Osada . The studio doing the animation for the DC anime series is WIT Studio, which previously worked on popular series in the medium like Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, and more.
Suicide Squad Isekai will not be part of James Gunn's DC Universe, despite the new version of DC under Gunn and Peter Safran being set to include movies, series, animation, and video games. While it is not part of the DC Universe, Suicide Squad Isekai might be DC fans' go-to project to see more of the team, as there are currently no plans for a new Suicide Squad movie starring Joker and Harley Quinn, or other fan-favorite DC characters. Suicide Squad Isekai has no release date set yet.
