“I’m at a loss for words,” said Foster, the Jaguars’ junior shortstop. “I was already jumping up in the air. Oh my God, we just won first place in district, and she hasn’t even made it home yet.”“Absolutely not,” Wollard said. “Reese is one of the fastest kids we have on base. … As soon as I saw that ball hit the gap, I knew Reese was going to score.”
Surratt’s run sealed the Jaguars’ first district championship since 2019. Johnson finished the regular season 19-6 overall and 15-1 in district. Madison finished 22-6 and 14-2.
