Though he lost his libel suit in the U.K., the defamation suit he filed in America can still move forward
This doesn’t seem the “major victory” outlets wanting to hype this as the new “trial of the century” want it to be but inevitable. As said last night there’s a certain irony to the situation here where basically Depp was relying on a US statute that essentially now bans almost all recognition of any foreign libel/defamation case .
I doubt this will really end up with Depp winning. The laws in the US far more heavily side with the person making the claims than they do in the UK and he still lost over here so Heard has all that evidence and how to present it to defend her allegations while he’ll have to claim he’s suffered massive damages despite still making millions from films he didn’t appear in, appearing in films that will get a release, and winning awards...
