The US special envoy to Northern Ireland, who is the grandnephew of President John F Kennedy, says he wants to be judged on his achievements rather than his famous family.

Mr Kennedy said it was a great honour to be given the job and he looked forward to engaging with everyone.would help "galvanise momentum" when it comes to attracting new investment., he said he had "grown up in a family which is well known and I have dealt with that all my life"."There are incredible benefits which come with that but there are challenges which come with that too," he told BBC News NI.

"What I've been asked to do is focus on the parts that unite us across communities - which are issues about if your kids are in a good school, if you've got enough food to eat, you've got a good job," he said."What I've been asked to do is channel my efforts and the efforts of this government to address those concerns cross-community and make sure the investment that does come is shared.
