Hollywood star Steve Coogan, 57, has earned lots of praise for his performance as monster Jimmy Savile
The new Jimmy Savile BBC drama series has caused lots of debate with differing opinions on whether it should have aired.
Following his death, he had a ‘state’ funeral in Leeds with thousands coming out to pay tribute to someone who helped raise millions for charity. It has been suggested by many that, in Savile’s mind, his good deeds outweighed his heinous bad.It is extremely doubtful many would share that point of view. For many, the unmasking of Savile is still incredibly raw, particularly for those in Leeds where the former entertainer resided in Roundhay Park.
The four-part drama series has been divisive and in our recent articles about The Reckoning we’ve asked you your thoughts on whether the BBC, where Savile committed many of his crimes, should have aired the series. As we’ve previously reported, Steve Coogan, 57, feels The Reckoning is an important TV show. One which might aid the plight of some of Savile’s victims.
