The plan was to keep Uhre on the bench, since he felt he only had 10-15 minutes of good play in him. Then New England scored. Second later, Uhre scored with his first touch on the field.

Jim Curtin opened his postgame news conference after the Union’s 1-1 tie at New England on Saturday by quoting Rasheed Wallace.

“If we kept a zero [defensively], we probably wouldn’t have changed anything and brought Mikael on,” Curtin said. “We would have had to change shape, and that would have been a lot changing three times in a game.”What were those shape changes? Let’s dig into them. That setup stood until New England’s goal, at which point Curtin sent in not just Uhre for Aaronson, but also Jack McGlynn for Flach.

He sure did that. While the television broadcast didn’t show him taking the field, he entered in the 76th minute and scored in the 77th. Uhre said it was the first time in his career that he’s scored with his first touch of a game after coming in as a substitute.Brenden Aaronson joins the Premier League’s Leeds United for $30 million, including $5 million for the Union
