Jessica Simpson turned down a role in The Notebook for this very specific reason.
"I knew exactly what the movie was about because I had read the script," Simpson wrote. She admitted that she simply passed on it because the filmmakers apparently "wouldn't budge" on taking out the sex scene.
"And it would have been with Ryan Gosling, of all people," she agonized further in her book, explaining that he had been her first crush in the '90s. The pair had initially tried out fortogether, so we can certainly imagine how awkward it may have been for Simpson. Though she passed on appearing in the film, the pop star did end up seeing it, however.
"Oh God, I thought," she wrote. "The most romantic movie in the world, and I was leaving Nick. The movie was on every screen, and I was swept up into it, wishing I had that great love that would be forever." The singer has been surprisingly frank in her memoir, divulging several details about her private life, including her experience with beingas a young girl. Despite these difficult times, however, she wrote that she's come out on the other side feeling more positive after her "deep emotional journey."
"I’ve used my pain and turned it into something that can be beautiful and hopefully inspiring to people."
