Mayor Steven Fulop and his public-safety director, a veteran leader of the NYPD, say technology and a bulked-up police force have made streets saferWhen Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop took office in 2013, he set his sights on lowering crime through improvements in technology and added manpower.
He had inherited a tiny police force and outdated and broken crime-fighting tools, with just 50 functioning police video cameras that were low in resolution, poorly placed and slow to send useful imagery.
